 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
 of George H. Ferguson, Jr., of Baytown, who passed away on March 6,
 2011, at the age of 88; and
 WHEREAS, George Ferguson was born in Houston on January 30,
 1923, to George Harley Ferguson, Sr., and Mary Eden Norton
 Ferguson; he grew up in Lynchburg and Highlands, and he graduated
 from Pasadena High School in 1939; and
 WHEREAS, A member of the Texas A&M University class of 1943,
 Mr. Ferguson took time away from his studies to answer his nation's
 call to duty during World War II; he served as a captain in the U.S.
 Army in the Philippines and was proud to have appeared in a
 photograph of the 1946 Aggie Muster that was taken on the island of
 Corregidor; he finished his education after the war, graduating in
 1948; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Ferguson subsequently pursued a career in the
 petroleum industry; he joined Humble Oil and Refining Company in
 the late 1940s and retired from Exxon in 1984; in the years that
 followed, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling with his wife,
 and he contributed to his community as a longtime member of the
 Rotary Club of Baytown; and
 WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Ferguson shared a
 fulfilling marriage with his wife, Doris, and together they were
 blessed with three sons, George, Lawrence, and Thomas; his life was
 further enriched by six grandchildren and five
 great-grandchildren; a loyal Aggie to the end, he was proud that all
 three of his sons and two of his grandchildren graduated from his
 alma mater; and
 WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share in the friendship
 and love of George Ferguson will always remember him with great
 admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of George H. Ferguson,
 Jr., and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to
 his wife of 67 years, Doris Ferguson; to his sons, George Harley
 Ferguson III and his wife, Barbara, Lawrence Alan Ferguson and his
 wife, Glenda, and Thomas Carroll Ferguson and his wife, Pat; to his
 grandchildren, Patrick Alan Ferguson, Michael Lawrence Ferguson,
 Tracy Ferguson Wheelis, Amy Ferguson Kohan, Matthew Thomas
 Ferguson, and Kristen Elizabeth Ferguson; to his
 great-grandchildren, Spencer Patrick Ferguson, LauraMae Rose
 Ferguson, Abigail Ruth Wheelis, Isaac Matthew Wheelis, and Robert
 Lawrence Ferguson; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of George H.
 Ferguson, Jr.
