H.R. No. 1330
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Betty L. Shuvalov retired as a system support
specialist IV in the property department of the Texas House of
Representatives on March 31, 2011, drawing to a close an exemplary
career in state government that has spanned more than two and a half
decades; and
WHEREAS, Hired as a secretary to director of administration
on November 18, 1985, Ms. Shuvalov went on to work in support
services, personnel and staff development, and the reproduction
department before transferring to the property department in 1996;
among her numerous responsibilities was the coordination and
oversight of the member office selection process that occurs before
every legislative session; and
WHEREAS, In retirement, Ms. Shuvalov is looking forward to
traveling, as well as to spending time with her close-knit family,
including her husband, Andy, her five children, Kevin, Elena,
Sonya, Nina, and Lisa, and her five grandchildren, Turner, Avery,
Elizabeth, Abby, and Drew; and
WHEREAS, Betty Shuvalov served house members and staff with
professionalism and dedication, and she may indeed reflect with
pride on her outstanding tenure as she embarks on the next exciting
chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Betty L. Shuvalov on her retirement
from the Texas House of Representatives and extend to her sincere
best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Shuvalov as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
