H.R. No. 1445 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A 70th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Edgar and Elizabeth Brown of Dallas celebrated that joyous milestone in their marriage on April 12, 2011; and WHEREAS, Edgar Brown first met the former Zuma Bell Elizabeth Way in 1938 at the ice cream shop where she worked; they were joined in matrimony in 1941 at a ceremony held at the home of the Hampton Place Church of Christ pastor; through the years, the couple have been blessed with a treasured family that includes three children, Kaye, Gail, and Bill, as well as four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, A Grayson County native, Mrs. Brown played ball with a girls' team while attending high school in Oklahoma, and she later moved with her family to Dallas; Mr. Brown graduated from Irving High School and studied electrical engineering at North Texas Agricultural College; during World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy, specializing in radio technology and electronics; and WHEREAS, Longtime residents of Dallas, the Browns owned a successful sound-equipment company and are members of Cockrell Hill Church of Christ; and WHEREAS, This esteemed couple have enjoyed seven decades of abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Edgar and Elizabeth Brown on their 70th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Brown as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
