H.R. No. 1449
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
by a great and enduring love, Roy and Marylyn Byrd of Lamesa
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 4, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Roy Byrd and the former Marylyn Cox were united in
matrimony in Lamesa in 1961; through the years, they have nurtured a
fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with the
addition of two daughters, Michelle Northam and her husband, Blake,
and Meggan Warren and her husband, Jon, as well as six grandchildren
and a great-grandchild; and
WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Mr. and Mrs.
Byrd serve their neighbors in myriad ways, including visits to the
elderly, the homebound, and those suffering from illness; and
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past
five decades, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant
in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love
has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with
grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Roy and Marylyn Byrd on their
golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Byrd as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
