H.R. No. 1455 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the loved ones of Reynaldo Chapa, Jr., of Benavides, who passed away on March 11, 2011, at the age of 75; and WHEREAS, Born in Benavides on March 2, 1936, to Reynaldo Chapa, Sr., and Petra G. Chapa, Reynaldo Chapa earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas A&I University in 1960 and 1964; he went on to have a notable career in Hebbronville and Benavides schools and served as superintendent of the Benavides Independent School District from 1985 to 1991; through his professional achievements and sincere concern for others, this inspiring educator made a positive difference in the lives of many young people, including State Representative Richard Pena Raymond, who was his student for four years; and WHEREAS, Mr. Chapa was devoted to his wife, Elda, and he also took great pride in his son, David Michael Chapa, and loved attending his sporting events; and WHEREAS, Though his death brings immeasurable sorrow to many, Reynaldo Chapa leaves behind a legacy that will long be treasured by all those who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Reynaldo Chapa, Jr., and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife of 50 years, Elda Perez Chapa; to his son, David Michael Chapa; to his sister, Hilda Chapa Gonzalez; to his brother, Eloy E. Chapa, and his wife, Mary; to his nieces, Edna Black and her husband, Richard, Mary Alice Deanda, and Judy Laughlin; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Reynaldo Chapa, Jr. Raymond ______________________________ Speaker of the House I certify that H.R.
