H.R. No. 1493
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Lou Spiegel is retiring from her position as
associate superintendent for business and governmental relations
of the Mansfield Independent School District in June 2011; and
WHEREAS, A certified public accountant, Mrs. Spiegel began
her notable career after graduating from The University of Texas at
Arlington; she served with a number of municipalities before
joining the Fort Worth school district in 1984; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Spiegel was hired by Mansfield ISD in 1996, and
in the years since, she has skillfully aided the district during a
time of considerable growth; she was instrumental in developing six
successful bond packages worth more than $500 million, which helped
to better serve the steadily increasing student population through
the addition of more than 20 new schools, a natatorium, and a new
stadium; and
WHEREAS, Through her visionary leadership and dedication,
Lou Spiegel has made immeasurable contributions to Mansfield ISD,
and her record of achievement will continue to benefit the district
and its students for years to come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby honor Lou Spiegel on her retirement as associate
superintendent for business and governmental relations of the
Mansfield Independent School District and extend to her sincere
best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Spiegel as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
