H.R. No. 1538 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories of John Edwin Horn of Lorena, who passed away on March 27, 2011, at the age of 76; and WHEREAS, Born in Greenville, Kentucky, on Christmas Day, 1934, to Wilty and Ruby Horn, John Horn was the fourth of 13 children; he served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1956, and then hitchhiked to Chicago, joining four of his brothers in the window washing business; it was there that he met the love of his life, Ann, and the two went on to share 46 happy years together as husband and wife and to welcome four children into their family; and WHEREAS, The Horns moved to Waco in 1977; Mr. Horn worked as a home builder and a real estate developer, and he was the owner and operator of an excavating company and a marina; an avid boater, he designed and built more than 30 houseboats; and WHEREAS, Mr. Horn took great pride in his grandchildren and he especially loved attending their many extracurricular activities, from football games to dance performances; he also enjoyed traveling and playing cards and dominoes with his family and friends; in addition, he was a valued member of the Brazos Meadows Baptist Church for more than two decades; and WHEREAS, John Horn lived a full and generous life surrounded by those he loved, and the memory of his delight in their company will long endure to comfort them; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of John Edwin Horn and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Anna Mae Horn; to his son, Johnnie Horn, and his wife, Marcia; to his daughters, Shelly Horn Cawthon and her husband, Matt, and Donna Horn; to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ashley, Caleb, Carol Ann, Jake and Rebecca, Samantha, John and Layne, Katie, Christa, Olivia, and Dustin; to his brother, Bill; to his sisters, Margie, Ann, Betty, Susie, and Laura; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of John Horn.
