H.R. No. 154 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, January 27, 2011, marks the 50th wedding anniversary of Tony and Linda Gavin of Caddo Mills, and this joyous event provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on their memorable journey together as husband and wife; and WHEREAS, High school and college sweethearts who both graduated from Caddo Mills Independent School District and East Texas State University, Mr. and Mrs. Gavin were joined in matrimony in 1961 at a ceremony officiated by Pastor Charles Peters in Caddo Mills; through the years, they have been blessed with a treasured family that includes their children, Stacy Plasek and Steve Gavin and his wife, Barbara, and one grandchild; and WHEREAS, Mr. Gavin is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was employed by Raytheon Systems; Mrs. Gavin is retired from public education; in addition to meeting their career and family responsibilities, they have dedicated much of their time to community service, including work on the cemetery board; they enjoy traveling cross-country in their RV, and Mr. Gavin plays golf three times a week; and WHEREAS, The 50 years of marriage that Mr. and Mrs. Gavin have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love and commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Tony and Linda Gavin on their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Gavin as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
