 R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The members of Citizens Residents Oppose Wells have
worked with enormous diligence to protect the groundwater supply in
 Montgomery County and beyond; and
WHEREAS, Formed to oppose permits for Class 1 injection
wells, CROW strives to educate the public about the risks
associated with the proposed operation of four commercial waste
injection wells on a 27-acre oil field southeast of The Woodlands in
Montgomery County; the group has held town hall meetings, attended
hearings, conducted fund-raisers, and publicized details of the
project through its website and the media, helping to mobilize
 fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, The proposed drilling site is located directly over
three major aquifers, the Chicot, Evangeline, and Jasper Aquifers,
which supply drinking water for all or part of 54 South Texas
counties as components of the Gulf Coast Aquifer; members of CROW
have given generously of their time, talents, and resources to make
residents and state officials aware that significant fissures on
the property can provide access points that could permit
contamination of the primary source of drinking water for Conroe,
The Woodlands, Kingwood, Spring, and other communities; and
WHEREAS, Setting forth commonsense criteria for the
permitting of Class 1 injection wells, CROW has emphasized that
such wells need to be located away from the places where people
 live, work, and play, on sites that meet all safety criteria;
moreover, CROW has stressed the vital need for close and careful
 management and monitoring; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the safety of the water supply and to
the economic health and growth of Montgomery County, the members of
CROW continue to vigorously oppose the permitting of wastewater
injection wells on inappropriate sites, and they are indeed worthy
of special recognition for their commitment and hard work; now,
 therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby commend the members of Citizens Residents Oppose
Wells for their efforts to protect the groundwater supply in
Montgomery County; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
