H.R. No. 1584 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Studios at Las Colinas in Irving is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a film and television gala on April 30, 2011; and WHEREAS, Since Silkwood was filmed there in 1983, the Studios at Las Colinas has served as the production facility for such major films as The Trip to Bountiful, RoboCop, JFK, Leap of Faith, and Talk Radio; in addition, a number of television programs, including Walker, Texas Ranger, Prison Break, and the popular children's series Barney & Friends, have been produced at the site; and WHEREAS, Managed by Muller Entertainment since 2005, the Studios at Las Colinas is considered one of the largest soundstage studios between the east and west coasts and one of the largest production and soundstage studios in Texas; following a multimillion-dollar renovation in 2009, this impressive venue includes three versatile soundstages, a suite of full-service production offices, and numerous filming locations on the studio property and nearby; and WHEREAS, The Studios at Las Colinas has greatly contributed to the local economy, while helping to make Texas a prime destination for film and television production, and it is indeed a pleasure to commend it for three decades of service to the moving image industry; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Studios at Las Colinas and extend to all those associated with the facility sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the studio as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
