 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
 meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
 of Johnny Emil Malik of Alpine, who passed away on March 4, 2011, at
 the age of 77; and
 WHEREAS, Born on November 19, 1933, in Breslau to Annie Cerny
 Malik and Isidor Malik, Johnny Malik grew up with nine brothers and
 sisters; he worked for many years as a track supervisor and foreman
 for the Southern Pacific Railroad and was a member of the
 Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees; in addition, he
 enjoyed fellowship at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine;
 and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Malik married Araceli Cano on August 31, 1974,
 and the couple shared more than three and a half decades together;
 he welcomed five children and eight grandchildren into his family
 and was a beloved patriarch who delighted in watching cartoons,
 feeding the birds, and making his grandchildren smile; and
 WHEREAS, A caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and
 friend, Johnny Malik will be greatly missed by all those who had the
 good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Johnny Emil Malik and
 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
 Araceli Cano Malik; to his daughters, Kathleen Malik Benson and her
 husband, Brian, and Michele Malik; to his sons, Michael Malik and
 his wife, Roxanna, and James Robert Malik and his wife, Sylvia; to
 his sisters, Leona Broz and Georgie Sladacek; to his brothers,
 Jerry, Daniel, and Edward Malik; to his grandchildren, Kevin
 Denham, Brianna Benson, Andrew Malik, Courteney Malik, Sadie
 Shackelford, Christopher Malik, and Victoria Malik; and to his
 other relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Johnny Emil
 Malik.
