 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Ricardo
 G. Alvarado of Alice, who passed away on March 27, 2011, at the age
 of 68; and
 WHEREAS, The son of Petra and Ramon Alvarado, Richard
 Alvarado was born in Orange Grove on January 22, 1943; he served his
 country in the United States Army and went on to complete his
 bachelor's degree in government, politics, and speech; the next
 year, he married the former Consuelo "Connie" Rinche and the couple
 later became the proud parents of a daughter, Erica; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Alvarado taught school for a year before
 becoming a liquidator for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
 and embarking on a long career in banking; after working in a number
 of cities, including Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Danbury, Connecticut,
 and San Juan, Puerto Rico, he returned to Texas; his skill and
 expertise benefited banks in San Diego, Harlingen, and Edinburg,
 and he ultimately organized a team of investors to create First
 State Bank of Falfurrias, which he served as president for a number
 of years; and
 WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Alvarado left the banking
 industry to guide his daughter as a "housedad" when she was in
 junior high; he became the proprietor of the Alice Motor Inn as
 well, and he ventured into the brokering of farm and mortgage loans;
 after a few years, he began commuting to a broker position at a
 Houston firm; next, he joined the Education Division of the
 Department of Criminal Justice, preparing inmates to adjust to life
 outside the prison walls, and he served in the Windham Independent
 School District until his retirement; never one to be idle, he
 continued to substitute teach in San Diego ISD until his health
 prevented him from working; and
 WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan pursued numerous hobbies, among
 them playing poker, writing poetry, and singing love songs to his
 wife; above all, he enjoyed spending time with his host of friends
 and the members of his close and affectionate family, who all looked
 to him as a role model and wise counselor; he expressed his great
 faith through compassion and generosity, and he never had an unkind
 word for anyone; and
 WHEREAS, Richard Alvarado lived a caring, purposeful life,
 and he will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who
 were lucky enough to share in his love and friendship; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Ricardo G.
 "Richard" Alvarado and extend sincere sympathy to the members of
 his family: to his wife, Consuelo R. "Connie" Alvarado; to his
 daughter, Erica Marcella Alvarado Woodruff, and her husband, Clark
 James Woodruff; to his grandchildren, Conner James Woodruff and
 Logan James Woodruff; to his sisters, Carolyn Alvarado Trumble and
 her husband, Donny, Anita Alvarado, Carmel Alvarado, Connie
 Alvarado Trevino and her husband, Ramon, and Angelina Alvarado
 Gonzalez and her husband, Tony; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ricardo G.
 "Richard" Alvarado.
