H.R. No. 1727
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Residents of Waco lost a beloved neighbor and friend
with the passing of Olivia Tucker Cloud on March 23, 2011, at the
age of 98; and
WHEREAS, Born on October 25, 1912, in Rusk to Richmond and
Lena Tucker, Olivia Tucker graduated from Rusk High School in 1931
and worked as a telephone operator for several years before her
marriage; and
WHEREAS, She exchanged wedding vows with Arnold Clinton Cloud
on October 27, 1936, and the couple shared a rewarding relationship
that was blessed with two children, Linda and Robert; Mrs. Cloud
also experienced the joy of seeing her family grow to include five
grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a
great-great-grandchild; and
WHEREAS, In 1941, Mrs. Cloud and her family moved to Waco,
where she became a charter member of Sparks Memorial United
Methodist Church; a devoted parishioner, she taught children's
Sunday school for many years and enthusiastically supported the
congregation's programs and activities; and
WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Olivia Cloud
will remember the way she touched their lives with her kindness,
sweet smile, and good humor, and she will forever hold a treasured
place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Olivia Tucker Cloud
and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
children and their spouses, Linda Harris and her husband, Garry,
and Robert Cloud and his wife, Martha; to her grandchildren, Terry
Harris and his wife, Kenna, Robert Cloud, Gregory Cloud, and Amy
Hobart and her husband, Rob; to her great-grandchildren, Olivia
Harris, Emilie Harris, Kim Garcia and her husband, Michael, G. C.
Harris, Ty Harris, Grace Cloud, Hattie Hobart, Bobby Cloud, and
Robert Hobart; to her great-great-grandson, Jaxson Garcia; to her
nephews and their spouses, Charles and Dorothy Morrow, Duane and
Marty Cloud, and Lehane and Peggy Cloud; and to her other relatives
and friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Olivia
Tucker Cloud.
