H.R. No. 1745 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The 38th Annual Swiss Avenue Historic District Association's Mother's Day Home Tour is taking place during the weekend of May 7 and 8, 2011; and WHEREAS, The Swiss Avenue area is an early 20th-century neighborhood which in 1974 became the first historic district in Dallas to be listed in the National Register of Historic Places; it includes some 200 carefully preserved and restored houses representing architectural styles such as Mediterranean, Spanish, Georgian, Prairie, Craftsman, Neoclassical, Italian Renaissance, Tudor, and Colonial Revival; and WHEREAS, Incorporated in 1977, the Swiss Avenue Historic District Association works to protect the properties of the district and to educate the public about its history, as well as to improve and beautify the area; the association is ably led by president Gaye Jackson Price, with Home Tour cochairs Lisa Marie Lange, John Lynch, Amy Petreikis, and Larry Waisanen responsible for the Mother's Day weekend activities; and WHEREAS, The Mother's Day Home Tour offers participants the opportunity to learn more about the Swiss Avenue Historic District and to enjoy viewing some of the most carefully preserved and restored homes in one of the finest early 20th-century neighborhoods in the Southwest; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby recognize the 38th Annual Swiss Avenue Historic District Association's Mother's Day Home Tour and extend to all those associated with the event sincere best wishes for an enjoyable tour weekend; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the association as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
