 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Tralen Markuss Palmer of Houston is reaching an
 important milestone in his life with his graduation from Jack Yates
 High School on May 15, 2011; and
 WHEREAS, Tralen Palmer was born a twin with his brother
 Jailen on October 20, 1993, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and moved to
 Houston with his family at the age of nine; he attended Longfellow
 Elementary School in the Houston Independent School District before
 continuing his education at Pershing Middle School; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Palmer is a student in the Communications Magnet
 Program at his high school, where he has excelled in photography
 among other topics; admired for his skill behind the lens, he had a
 photograph chosen for inclusion in the 16th Annual "Eye on Third
 Ward" exhibit at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts; and
 WHEREAS, A prominent member of the Yates student body,
 Mr. Palmer was elected senior class vice president and 2010-2011
 Homecoming Prince, and he also serves on the student council and
 plays on the varsity football team; in addition, he is a student
 scholar for the Baylor College of Medicine Science Institute and
 was selected to attend the National Geographic Student Summit in
 Washington, D.C., in summer 2010; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Palmer is active in the greater community as
 well as a member of Norton Temple Church of God In Christ, and he
 participates in the youth department, the junior deacons, and the
 junior usher boards; and
 WHEREAS, After graduation, this accomplished young Texan
 will attend Southern University and A&M College to major in
 biology; his long-term plans include medical school and a career as
 a cardiologist; and
 WHEREAS, Having demonstrated maturity, determination, and
 ability in completing his high school studies, Tralen Palmer may
 reflect with pride on all he has accomplished as he prepares to
 embark on an exciting new chapter in his life; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Tralen Markuss Palmer on his
 graduation from Jack Yates High School and extend to him sincere
 best wishes for a successful future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Palmer as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
