 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, In an impressive demonstration of teamwork and
 resourceful thinking, the Destination ImagiNation team from
 Clayton Downing Middle School in Flower Mound took first place at
 the Texas Destination ImagiNation Affiliate Tournament on April 2,
 2011; and
 WHEREAS, Destination ImagiNation is an international program
 that promotes cooperation and creative problem solving among
 students; teams compete to find innovative solutions to a variety
 of educational challenges; and
 WHEREAS, Calling themselves Dig It!, this team of talented
 girls has worked together for four years, starting at Bridlewood
 Elementary School; their skill and easy rapport have helped them
 garner DI trophies from regional, state, and international
 competitions; and
 WHEREAS, Dig It! triumphed at the state DI event with its
 response to an improvisational challenge in which team members had
 five minutes to combine elements chosen at random: a mythological
 creature, a foreign culture, three props, and an unexpected
 problem; reaching an impressive and entertaining solution, the
 Downing Middle School group finished first, again qualifying for
 the DI Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee, where in 2010, it
 placed second out of 65 teams from around the world; and
 WHEREAS, Supported by parent volunteer Teri Guthrie, members
 of Dig It! include Grace Cabuena, Emily Guthrie, Tiffany Jones,
 Katie Kelton, Maggie McGee, and Erin Zilka; and
 WHEREAS, Dig It! is a source of great pride to Downing Middle
 School and the Flower Mound community, and it is indeed a pleasure
 to honor the team on its latest achievement; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Destination ImagiNation team
 from Clayton Downing Middle School on its first-place finish at the
 DI 2011 state tournament and extend to the group sincere best wishes
 for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Dig It! as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
