H.R. No. 1855 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Grady Prestage has ably served the people of Fort Bend County as county commissioner for two decades, and his knowledge and dedication have earned him the respect of many people along the way; and WHEREAS, After graduating from Southern University, Mr. Prestage worked as a civil engineer for a number of oil and gas companies and consulting engineering firms; he later served as a partner in a public relations and marketing consulting firm; and WHEREAS, On his election to Place 2 in November 1990, Mr. Prestage became the first African American since Reconstruction to serve on the Fort Bend County Commissioners Court; today, he represents citizens of Houston, Missouri City, Stafford, Quail Valley, and Fifth Street; and WHEREAS, Mr. Prestage has further contributed to his fellow residents through his work with the board of the Fort Bend Crime Victims Alliance, the Texas Department of State Health Services Indigent Health Care Advisory Committee, and the City of Houston Planning Commission; a senior fellow of the American Leadership Forum, he has also shared his time with the Chase Bank Post Oak Advisory Committee; and WHEREAS, Grady Prestage has demonstrated a lasting commitment to making Fort Bend County an even better place in which to live and work, and he may take justifiable pride in his exemplary record of achievement; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby commend Fort Bend county commissioner Grady Prestage for his service to the community and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Prestage as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
