H.R. No. 1909 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories of Alfred Pomerenke of McGregor, who died on April 4, 2011, at the age of 77; and WHEREAS, Born on July 12, 1933, Mr. Pomerenke attended McGregor High School and later served in the United States Army; in 1953, he married the former Betty Goodwin, and they shared nearly six decades together and raised three children; most of his career was spent with McGregor Milling and Grain, where he was employed as a truck driver and a maintenance worker until his retirement in 2000; and WHEREAS, Mr. Pomerenke was a member of the American Legion and the McGregor Volunteer Fire Department, and he took great satisfaction in his hobbies of fishing, hunting, and vegetable gardening; and WHEREAS, Alfred Pomerenke enjoyed a life that was rich in the intangibles that matter most, and he is deeply missed by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Alfred Pomerenke and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, Betty Pomerenke; to his sons, Bruce Pomerenke and his wife, Kathy, and Steve Pomerenke and his wife, Cheryl; to his daughter, Dana Pomerenke; to his grandchildren, Tammy Fleming, Tyson Charlson, and Mindy, Zeb, and Zach Pomerenke; to his great-granddaughter, Olivia Fleming; to his brother, Lynn Pomerenke; to his sisters, Delores "Sis" Johnson and Anita "Nicky" Burgess and her husband, J. B.; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Alfred Pomerenke.
