 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Anne
 Perlman Harris, who passed away on April 2, 2011, at the age of 96;
 and
 WHEREAS, A native of the Lone Star State, the former Anne
 Perlman was born in Galveston on April 24, 1914, to Sam and Esther
 Perlman; after graduating as valedictorian of Ball High School, she
 earned her bachelor's degree with honors from The University of
 Texas and returned to Galveston to teach at her alma mater; and
 WHEREAS, In 1941, she married Charles M. Harris, with whom
 she shared many happy years and raised two sons, Jerry and Maury;
 the couple lived in Amarillo for a time but eventually settled in
 Waco, where they established a home-building company that later
 evolved into a successful mortgage business; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Harris was a valued and active member of the
 Waco community for nearly half a century, and she shared her time
 with a number of worthwhile groups, including Temple Rodef Sholom;
 after her husband's death in 1986, she moved to Houston to be closer
 to family; and
 WHEREAS, Known for her courage, wisdom, and insight, Anne
 Harris lived a full and generous life, and she will forever be
 remembered with deep admiration and affection by all who had the
 good fortune to know her; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Anne Perlman Harris
 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
 sons, Jerry Harris and his wife, Sylvia, and Maury Harris and his
 wife, Laurie; to her grandchildren, Kimberly McAndrew and her
 husband, David McAndrew, Felicia Goldberg and her husband, Steven
 Goldberg, Lisa Harris, and Charles Harris; to her
 great-grandchildren, Tanya, Jessica, and Megan McAndrew and Sarah
 and Julia Goldberg; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Anne
 Harris.
