H.R. No. 193
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Brothers Jack and Don Wood have been named 2010
Outstanding Citizens of the Year by the Odessa Chamber of Commerce;
and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas Tech University, Jack Wood
currently serves as president and CEO of Western National Bank; he
has held leadership positions with the local United Way and chamber
of commerce as well as with Texas Tech University and The University
of Texas of the Permian Basin; today, he is an honorary chair of the
American Combat Airman Hall of Fame and the West Texas Food Bank and
a valued member of First United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Wood has earned a number of honors through the
years, including the titles of Odessa Chamber of Commerce
Entrepreneur of the Year and Texas Tech Alumni of the Year; in all
of his endeavors, he has enjoyed the loving support of his wife,
Sheri, and his daughters, Taylor and Kirby; and
WHEREAS, An equally positive force in the community is Don
Wood, president of Permian Enterprises; he earned his bachelor's
degree from Texas Tech University and currently serves on the
Employees Retirement System of Texas Board of Trustees and the UTPB
Performing Arts Advisory Committee; his valuable insight has also
benefited the Permian Basin Area Foundation, the Midland-Odessa
Transportation Alliance, and the Texas Prepaid Higher Education
Tuition Board; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Wood is active in the Westminster Presbyterian
Church congregation and a devoted father to his son, Jordan, and his
daughter, Rachel; recognized for his exceptional service, he has
received the Heritage of Odessa Award for Excellence in Business
and been named Odessa Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneur of the Year
and Texas Tech Alumni of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Jack and Don Wood have demonstrated enthusiasm and
generosity that are helping to make the Odessa area an even better
place to live and work, and it is a pleasure to join in commending
them for their outstanding efforts in behalf of their fellow
residents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Jack and Don Wood on being named
the 2010 Outstanding Citizens of the Year and extend to them sincere
best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Jack Wood and Don Wood as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
