 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The 75th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed
 worthy of special recognition, and Delores Ray Littlejohn George of
 San Antonio is celebrating this important milestone in her life on
 May 27, 2011; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Mumford, Delores Littlejohn was one of four
 children of George and Ella Littlejohn; she graduated from Phillis
 Wheatley High School in 1954, earning a scholarship to Hicks Beauty
 School, and she went on to attend Prairie View A&M University and
 Los Angeles City College before graduating from St. Philip's
 College; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. George worked with Wolf and Marks Salon and
 later joined the staff of the San Antonio Metropolitan Health
 District, where her notable tenure as a community service aide
 spanned 23 years; and
 WHEREAS, Devoted to her family, she is the mother of nine
 children, Sherrye, Carolyn, George, Patricia, Brenda, Gregory,
 Sylvia, Willie, and Gloria; today, she enjoys the love and
 affection of 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. George has shared her time with the PTA at a
 number of schools and chaired its hospitality committee at
 Royalgate Elementary; in addition, she volunteered at the
 Healy-Murphy Center, helping to style hair during the summer
 program; and
 WHEREAS, A leader in her community of faith, Mrs. George has
 been a member of the choir at New Mount Rose Baptist Church, choir
 secretary at St. Stephens Baptist Church, and choir president at
 Prince of Peace Catholic Church; through the years, she has also
 been a valued congregant of Gateway and Harper's Chapel Baptist
 Churches; and
 WHEREAS, In her free time, Mrs. George has pursued such
 hobbies as flower arranging and ceramics; an avid traveler, she has
 visited the Arkansas State Capitol, the William J. Clinton
 Presidential Library, and Cozumel, Mexico; this year, she came to
 Austin to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the 82nd Legislature;
 and
 WHEREAS, Delores George has long been a source of wisdom and
 inspiration to all who are privileged to know her, and it is truly a
 pleasure to join her family and friends as they gather to honor her
 for 75 years of life well lived; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Delores Ray Littlejohn George on the
 occasion of her 75th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes
 for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mrs. George as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
