H.R. No. 2030
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Hispanic National Bar Association is holding its
36th annual convention in Dallas on August 31 through September 3,
2011; and
WHEREAS, The association represents the interests of more
than 100,000 Hispanic attorneys, judges, law professors, legal
assistants, and law students in the United States and its
territories; and
WHEREAS, Since its founding three decades ago, the group has
worked to encourage Latino students to choose a career in law and to
promote their advancement within the profession by providing issue
advocacy, programmatic activities, networking events, and
educational conferences; and
WHEREAS, The 2011 convention, with the theme "Forging the
Future Together," is being hosted by the Dallas Hispanic Bar
Association, which is guided by a mission to promote the social,
economic, educational, and civic advancement of the Hispanic
community of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex by making the legal
system more accessible to that community and more responsive to its
needs; the group is ably led by its president, civil district court
associate judge Teresa Guerra Snelson, who is co-chairing the event
with DHBA director Christie M. Villarreal; and
WHEREAS, The Hispanic National Bar Association has provided a
voice and meeting ground for Hispanic legal professionals and has
rendered exemplary service both to its members and to the greater
community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the 36th annual convention of the
Hispanic National Bar Association and extend to the members of the
Dallas Hispanic Bar Association and all those in attendance sincere
best wishes for a meaningful and memorable event; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Hispanic National Bar Association and the Dallas
Hispanic Bar Association as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
