 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Jose Antonio Ramirez was selected to participate in
 the 2011 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program, and during
 the 82nd Legislative Session, he has ably served his fellow Texans
 as an aide in the office of State Representative J. M. Lozano; and
 WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative
 Leadership Foundation, the program offers outstanding university
 students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time
 policy interns in the offices of members of the Mexican American
 Legislative Caucus and gain experience working with the Texas
 Legislature; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Brownsville to Juan Antonio and Maria del
 Consuelo Ramirez, Jose Antonio Ramirez was taught the importance of
 education and a strong work ethic by his parents; he helped his
 father on construction jobs and aided his mother in her efforts to
 establish a child-care center; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Ramirez then attended the University of the
 Incarnate Word in San Antonio, graduating with dual degrees in
 political science and philosophy and a minor in sociology; while a
 student, he volunteered at American Gateways, a nonprofit
 organization in Austin that provides legal assistance, education,
 and outreach to immigrants and refugees, increasing his interest in
 immigration law and public service; and
 WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure at the State Capitol,
 Mr. Ramirez has been of great assistance to Representative Lozano's
 office, while acquiring knowledge of issues facing citizens of the
 Lone Star State; he has performed his duties as a legislative aide
 with skill, perseverance, and dedication, and he may indeed look
 forward to a rewarding future; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Jose Antonio Ramirez as a participant in
 the 2011 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and commend
 him for his notable contributions to the legislative process; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Ramirez as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
