 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Jose F. Cardenas of El Paso stepped down from the
 Texas Board of Professional Engineers on January 7, 2011, after six
 and a half years of outstanding service; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Cardenas joined the Texas Board of Professional
 Engineers in June 2004, and since May 2006, he has held the post of
 vice chair, playing a vital role in the organization's important
 work; and
 WHEREAS, An engineering graduate of The University of Texas
 at El Paso, Mr. Cardenas is president of Moreno Cardenas, Inc., a
 consulting civil engineering firm in El Paso; he is a licensed
 engineer in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Oklahoma; and
 WHEREAS, In addition to his work on the Texas Board of
 Professional Engineers, Mr. Cardenas has served his profession as a
 board member of the Texas Council of Engineering Companies, board
 member of the El Paso chapter of the American Society of Civil
 Engineers, and president of the El Paso chapter of the Texas Society
 of Professional Engineers; and
 WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has also contributed
 significantly to both his alma mater and his community; a founding
 member of the Alumni Academy of Civil Engineers at UTEP, Mr.
 Cardenas currently chairs the UTEP College of Engineering Advisory
 Board and sits on the board of directors of the UTEP Alumni
 Association; moreover, he is presently assisting the Borderland
 Mobility Coalition of El Paso as a member of its executive
 committee, and he has served as an officer of several other
 community organizations; and
 WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, Mr. Cardenas has
 enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Rebecca, and their
 children, Marisa and Jose; and
 WHEREAS, The dedication, professionalism, and commitment to
 excellence that Jose Cardenas has brought to his duties with the
 Texas Board of Professional Engineers have greatly benefited the
 mission of that agency, and he may indeed take great pride in his
 exemplary tenure; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby commend Jose F. Cardenas for his distinguished
 service on the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and extend to
 him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Cardenas as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
