 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The girls' water polo team of Ross S. Sterling High
 School in Baytown captured its fourth consecutive Texas
 Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association state championship
 with a victory in the title game on April 16, 2011, at the Conroe
 Independent School District Natatorium; and
 WHEREAS, The Lady Rangers downed Clear Lake High School 10-4
 to claim the championship, after previously beating Guyer, Tomball,
 and Lamar High Schools by a combined score of 38-9 to qualify for
 the final; and
 WHEREAS, Team captain Madison Pepper was named the most
 valuable player after tallying 10 steals, 8 assists, and 17 goals in
 the tournament; other standout performances were made by Kaci New,
 who had 16 goals and 8 assists, Eunice Alaniz, who had 4 goals, 9
 assists, and 13 steals, and goalie Darla Vasquez, who blocked 49
 shots in the four games, with 16 of them coming in the title
 contest; Ms. New, Ms. Alaniz, and Ms. Vasquez were each named to the
 All-State team; and
 WHEREAS, Guided by coach T. J. Markiewicz, the 2010-2011 Lady
 Rangers have furthered their school's tradition of excellence in
 the sport; in addition to winning every state title since
 2007-2008, the team has garnered a total of seven TISCA
 championships over the past two decades; and
 WHEREAS, This sustained success is a reflection of the
 dedication and teamwork that are the hallmarks of Sterling High
 water polo, and the achievements of this year's athletes are a
 source of pride to their school and to their many supporters in the
 local community; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Ross S. Sterling High School
 girls' water polo team on winning the 2010-2011 TISCA state
 championship and extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere
 best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
