H.R. No. 2141 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Juan Carlos Garcia of Dallas was selected to participate in the 2011 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program, and during the 82nd Legislative Session, he has ably served his fellow Texans as an aide in the office of State Representative Dawnna Dukes; and WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative Leadership Foundation, the program offers outstanding university students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time policy interns in the offices of members of the Mexican American Legislative Caucus and gain experience working with the Texas Legislature; and WHEREAS, The son of Juan A. Garcia and Mae Garcia, Juan Carlos Garcia was taught from childhood to value education and was inspired by the example of his parents to accomplish his goals; the first in his family to attend college, he graduated from the University of North Texas in 2010; and WHEREAS, Mr. Garcia held two jobs while earning his degree, overcoming many challenges along the way; he now seeks to help his younger siblings and others in his community to achieve academic success; and WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure at the State Capitol, Mr. Garcia has been of great assistance to Representative Dukes's office, while acquiring knowledge of issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; he has performed his duties as a legislative aide with skill, perseverance, and dedication, and he may indeed look forward to a rewarding future; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby honor Juan Carlos Garcia as a participant in the 2011 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and commend him for his notable contributions to the legislative process; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Garcia as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
