H.R. No. 2182 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Captain Kevin Hughes retired from the Richardson Police Department on June 30, 2010, drawing to a close a notable career in law enforcement that spanned a quarter of a century; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hughes began his exemplary tenure with the department as a patrol officer and as a detective in the investigative division; he attained the rank of captain in 2002; and WHEREAS, Captain Hughes went on to work as a supervisor in the patrol and investigative divisions; he also led the department's successful effort to win accreditation from the Texas Law Enforcement Best Practices Recognition Program of the Texas Police Chiefs Association; and WHEREAS, The dedication, professionalism, and commitment to excellence of Captain Hughes earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow officers and greatly benefited the citizens of Richardson; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Captain Kevin Hughes on his retirement from the Richardson Police Department and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Captain Hughes as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
