H.R. No. 2185 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Officer Dan White retired as a full-time member of the Richardson Police Department on January 31, 2010, after nearly three decades of service to the department; and WHEREAS, A graduate of J. J. Pearce High School in Richardson, Mr. White earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice at The University of Texas at Arlington before joining the Richardson Police Department in 1980; and WHEREAS, Officer White initially worked in the patrol division and then served for a time as an undercover narcotics officer; he was subsequently assigned to the criminal investigations division, where for the next 20 years he focused on crimes against persons, burglary and theft, and youth crimes; along the way, he served on two Federal Bureau of Investigation task forces; he is certified as a master peace officer, and he was named patrolman of the year for 1984 and investigator of the year for 1996; and WHEREAS, This outstanding law enforcement professional continues to work part-time as a neighborhood police officer on the west side of the city, where he grew up; and WHEREAS, Dan White's dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the safety and welfare of the public have greatly benefited the citizens of Richardson, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his accomplishments even as he continues to serve; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Dan White on his retirement as a full-time officer with the Richardson Police Department and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Officer White as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
