H.R. No. 2212 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends of Dr. Albert Ray Niederer of Woodway, who passed away on April 22, 2011, at the age of 72; and WHEREAS, Born on August 5, 1938, in Waco to Gus Albert and Freda Gummelt Niederer, Ray Niederer played basketball as a youth and graduated from Waco High School in 1956; he earned a bachelor's degree in history from Baylor University in 1960, and while attending college, he met the love of his life, Anna Waters; the two married on July 23, 1960, and they shared more than half a century of marriage and had two children together, Deborah and David; and WHEREAS, Dr. Niederer studied at Sioux Falls Seminary in South Dakota and was ordained as a minister in 1963, and he went on to serve as a pastor at Baptist churches in Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and California; while leading services at several small churches in Texas, he enrolled in the doctoral program in religion at Baylor University, and in 1976, he earned his doctor of philosophy degree; and WHEREAS, In 1983, Dr. Niederer became a librarian in the Waco-McLennan County Library system and he worked in area libraries for two decades; a member of the First Baptist Church of Waco as well, he also liked to golf, read, and travel in his spare time; and WHEREAS, Dr. Niederer earned the affection and admiration of many people with his kind and caring ways, and he will long be remembered by all those who were fortunate enough to know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dr. Albert Ray Niederer and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Ann; to his daughter, Deborah Saxon, and her husband, John; to his son, David Niederer, and his wife, Misty; to his grandchildren, Megan and Peyton; to his sister, Dorothy DeBorde; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Albert Ray Niederer.
