H.R. No. 2296
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Janet Espinosa of Westlake High School has been
named the 2011 Eanes Independent School District Teacher of the
Year; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Espinosa is a social studies teacher with 34
years of experience in education and a decade spent at Westlake; her
courses include advanced placement human geography and comparative
government, and she is also trained as a College Board consultant
and has facilitated summer institutes in pre-advanced placement
world geography; and
WHEREAS, Inspired to pursue a career in education by her
sixth-grade teacher, Ms. Espinosa graduated from the University of
Northern Colorado in 1974 with a degree in history and began
teaching in Colorado before coming to The Woodlands and then to
Eanes ISD in 2001; she has served as a department head, on the
campus and district leadership teams, and on professional
development steering and long-range planning committees and peers
describe her as both strong in the classroom and generous with her
ideas and strategies; and
WHEREAS, A strong academic foundation is vital in order for
our young people to become successful adults, and Janet Espinosa
exemplifies the qualities that make a truly great teacher; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Janet Espinosa on her selection as
the 2011 Eanes Independent School District Teacher of the Year and
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Espinosa as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
