 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Garcia family of Rio Grande City has
 distinguished itself in myriad ways, and it is indeed fitting to
 recognize their accomplishments; and
 WHEREAS, Proud of a rich heritage in the Lone Star State, the
 Garcia family counts among its ancestors a talented violinist,
 Odilon Carrera, who played in Los Gavilanes, and J. R. Monroe, a
 state representative and the great-great-grandfather of Mikael A.
 Garcia, who now serves as legislative director in the office of
 State Representative Aaron Pena; and
 WHEREAS, Reigning today as patriarch and matriarchs are
 grandparents Jose Leon Garcia, Margarita Garcia, and Beulah
 Gonzalez; while helping to raise Mikael Garcia and his sister,
 Arielle, Beulah Gonzalez taught them how to cook, how to stay
 organized, and other life skills; in addition, she inspired them to
 work diligently toward their goals; Jose Leon Garcia and Margarita
 Garcia taught their grandchildren how to drive, and they developed
 their appreciation for family ties and impressed upon them the need
 to offer respect and kindness to everyone; and
 WHEREAS, The parents of Mikael and Arielle, Nannette and
 Ernesto Garcia, worked diligently to provide for their children;
 Ernesto Garcia was employed by the State of Texas before
 establishing a successful home health agency in Rio Grande City and
 McAllen, and he played baseball with his son and basketball with his
 daughter; an English teacher for 20 years, Nannette Garcia taught
 both of her children to read by the age of three and developed their
 love of the written word; she shared her enthusiasm for classic
 films with her offspring as well; and
 WHEREAS, Devoted to his niece and nephew, Rolando Gonzalez,
 nicknamed "Tio Role," instilled an interest in science through his
 instruction in chemistry; with so many relatives dedicated to their
 upbringing, Mikael and Arielle Garcia both excelled in school and
 other areas; Arielle Garcia played on the basketball team in middle
 school and high school and went on to graduate from Texas State
 University with a degree in kinesiology; meanwhile, her brother
 began participating in politics as a high school student and earned
 his bachelor's degree in government from The University of Texas at
 Austin, the alma mater of his parents and his uncle; and
 WHEREAS, The Garcia family sets a sterling example through
 their steadfast support and encouragement of one another, and they
 are a source of inspiration to all who are privileged to know them;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby recognize the members of the Garcia family and
 extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the Garcia family as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
