 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Neeta Sane, a distinguished member of the Houston
 Community College Board of Trustees, has provided exemplary service
 both to the school and to the people of Fort Bend County; and
 WHEREAS, Elected to the HCC Board of Trustees in 2007, Ms.
 Sane has worked tirelessly to strengthen the college's capacity to
 serve as a pathway to higher education and workforce training; in
 2008, she played an instrumental role in bringing Alief into the HCC
 system, and she has promoted the building of business partnerships
 to advance the school's mission; in recent months, she has launched
 a series of regional workforce summits to explore new ways in which
 HCC can address local workforce needs, and one result has been the
 establishment of a new AAS degree program in logistics and global
 supply chain management; Ms. Sane has also focused on developing
 outreach to low-income and underserved communities, on improving
 support services for minority and economically disadvantaged
 students, and on instituting a diversity program for the benefit of
 students and staff; while chair of the trustees' Athletics
 Committee, she oversaw the inauguration of yet another resource for
 the student body, a system-wide intramural program; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Bombay, India, Ms. Sane holds an M.S. from
 the University of Bombay and another master's degree from the
 University of Houston--Clear Lake; in addition to serving on the
 HCC Board of Trustees, she manages a Stafford-based software
 development and consulting firm, which she established in 2001;
 this successful entrepreneur has been an active member of the
 Rotary Club of Sugar Land and the League of Women Voters, and she
 has held leadership positions in a number of community
 organizations, among them the American Association of University
 Women and the Fort Bend Democratic Party; she currently serves as
 vice president of the National Diversity Council, and she was the
 driving force behind the establishment of the annual International
 Festival of Fort Bend County; and
 WHEREAS, Determined to make quality education accessible and
 affordable for her fellow citizens and to help build a prosperous
 and inclusive community, Neeta Sane is indeed making a positive
 difference in the lives of countless Texas residents; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Neeta Sane for her outstanding
 contributions in behalf of Houston Community College and the people
 of Fort Bend County; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Sane as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
