H.R. No. 2411 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the death of Mary Massie Goss on April 25, 2011, at the age of 91; and WHEREAS, Born in Van Alstyne on August 8, 1919, the former Mary Massie was the daughter of Clyde and Charlie Koch Massie; she graduated from North Texas State Teacher's College and went on to work as an elementary school teacher; and WHEREAS, In 1940, she was joined in matrimony to Neill Goss, and they shared a rewarding relationship that continued for more than four decades, until Mr. Goss passed away in 1982; the couple were the parents of two sons, Tom and Bill, and through the years the family grew to include four grandchildren; and WHEREAS, A longtime member of the First Christian Church of Denton, Mrs. Goss also gave back to her community with the establishment of the Neill and Mary Goss Presidential Scholarship through the McLennan Community College Foundation; in addition, she was well known for her delicious home-cooked meals and baked treats; and WHEREAS, Although Mary Goss will be deeply missed, cherished memories of time spent in her company will long endure in the hearts of her family and friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Mary Massie Goss and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her sons, Tom Goss and his wife, Renda, and Bill Goss and his wife, Sandy; to her grandchildren, Jon, David, Neill, and Carolyn Goss; to her sisters, Kathryn Carter and her husband, Floyd, and Lucile Krehbiel and her husband, Kenneth; to her brother-in-law, Doyle Chrisman; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mary Goss.
