H.R. No. 2473 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Devin Faber of Canton High School claimed the 2011 University Interscholastic League 3A state title in the pole vault, taking home the gold medal in that event for the second consecutive year; and WHEREAS, Competing at the Track & Field State Meet in Austin on May 13, Mr. Faber, a senior, won with a vault of 16 feet, 6 inches; this was his third trip to the state championships overall, having won the silver medal as a sophomore; and WHEREAS, Making his achievement all the more impressive, this determined competitor was able to repeat as state champ after struggling with a hamstring injury for much of the season; following his graduation, Mr. Faber plans to continue pole vaulting at the collegiate level at Lon Morris College; and WHEREAS, In proving himself the finest 3A pole vaulter in the Lone Star State for the second year in a row, this talented student-athlete has realized a well-deserved reward for his countless hours of hard work and enduring commitment to excellence; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Devin Faber on winning the 2011 UIL 3A state title in the pole vault and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Faber as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
