H.R. No. 248 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Residents of El Paso lost a beloved neighbor and friend with the passing of Artemisa Salinas on January 15, 2011, at the age of 78; and WHEREAS, "Arte" Salinas worked for more than two decades at H&H Car Wash and Coffee Shop, an award-winning eatery where she held the title of head waitress; infusing the local landmark with a smile and friendly banter, she took great joy in serving her regulars and such notable visitors as former first lady Laura Bush and The University of Texas at El Paso president Diana Natalicio; and WHEREAS, Ms. Salinas could be counted on to remember not only an order, but the personal details of her customers' lives, and she freely shared her wisdom and advice with those in need; and WHEREAS, Known for her strength, kindness, and good humor, Arte Salinas enjoyed a life that was rich in the intangibles that matter most, and she is deeply missed by those who held her dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Artemisa "Arte" Salinas and extend deepest sympathy to her three children and to all those who mourn her passing; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Artemisa Salinas.
