 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A worthwhile project to benefit young people in El
 Paso reached a notable milestone on January 19, 2011, with the
 ribbon cutting for the new El Paso High School baseball and softball
 athletic fields; and
 WHEREAS, Located in Tom Lea Park, adjacent to the high
 school, this impressive new complex was made possible through an
 innovative lease and interlocal agreement that was reached between
 the El Paso Independent School District and the City of El Paso; the
 initiative received additional assistance from the El Paso Water
 Utilities Public Service Board; and
 WHEREAS, Funding for the fields came from a bond proposal
 approved by voters in 2003, and the $1.6 million facility will
 provide an outstanding home for Tiger athletes long into the
 future; and
 WHEREAS, The new baseball and softball complex is a prime
 example of the positive results that can be realized through the
 cooperation of citizens and public officials, and it is a welcome
 addition to the city of El Paso; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate the opening of the new baseball and
 softball athletic fields at El Paso High School and commend all
 those who contributed to this worthwhile initiative; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
 for the El Paso Independent School District and the City of El Paso
 as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
 Representatives.
