H.R. No. 2494 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Paul A. Cameron, Jr., of Corpus Christi has greatly contributed to the accounting profession in the Lone Star State; and WHEREAS, Raised on a tobacco farm in North Carolina, Paul Cameron realized at an early age that his life's calling lay elsewhere; he majored in mathematics at East Carolina University, where he also prepared for the U.S. Air Force in the school's ROTC program; he graduated as a commissioned lieutenant and subsequently began pilot training; and WHEREAS, Mr. Cameron served in the Strategic Air Command before being called to combat duty in Vietnam; after his tour, he was stationed at the Pentagon and then appointed commander of Grissom Air Force Base in Indiana; he retired with the rank of colonel in 1977; and WHEREAS, With the teaching certificate he had earned as an undergraduate and a master's degree from the Air Force Institute of Technology, Mr. Cameron pursued a career as an accounting professor at Corpus Christi State University; he excelled in that role for more than three decades until his retirement in May 2010; and WHEREAS, Along the way, he benefited his fellow accountants through his service as president of the Accounting Education Foundation and as a board member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants; he not only served on more than a dozen TSCPA committees, helping in areas such as strategic planning and careers, but he also distinguished himself as the secretary/treasurer, vice president, and president of the TSCPA Corpus Christi chapter; he is a recipient of the Outstanding Service Award from his local group, and TSCPA honored him with its Outstanding Accounting Educator Award in 2002; and WHEREAS, Paul Cameron's leadership, enthusiasm, and commitment to excellence have earned him the respect and admiration of countless people, and it is indeed a pleasure to recognize him at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby honor Paul A. Cameron, Jr., for his outstanding accomplishments and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Cameron as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
