 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
 by a great and enduring love, Jim and Maxine Howell of Temple
 celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 6, 2011; and
 WHEREAS, Jim Howell and the former Maxine Tims were united in
 matrimony in Anchorage, Alaska, in 1961; through the years, they
 have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer
 with the addition of their children, Jim and his wife, Melinda,
 Keith and his wife, Toni, and Cheri, and two grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Howell led his own
 band and also performed with Jerry Haisler and the Melody 5 for
 several years; he is retired from Texas Instruments; Mrs. Howell is
 a homemaker and the owner of a handmade crafts business; she
 formerly co-owned Family Video; residents of Temple since 1978,
 they are valued congregants of Memorial Baptist Church; and
 WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the
 world during the past half-century, this devoted husband and wife
 have remained constant in their commitment to one another, and the
 strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges
 and opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Jim and Maxine Howell on their
 golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
 for continued happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Howell as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
