H.R. No. 2646 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Stacey Proctor has been named the 2010-2011 Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District Secondary Education Teacher of the Year; and WHEREAS, Since being hired by the district in 2006, Mr. Proctor has taught in the disciplinary alternative education program at Buell Central High School in Pharr; in that capacity, he works with 15 to 20 students at a time who require special attention; in addition to his teaching duties, Mr. Proctor mentors first-year faculty members and serves on the district's curriculum team; and WHEREAS, A 2006 graduate of The University of Texas-Pan American, Mr. Proctor holds a bachelor's degree in history with a minor in political science; during college, he worked as a night monitor and drill instructor at the Judge Homer Salinas Rehabilitation Center boot camp in Edinburg; he supervised 40 male offenders, helping them attain their GEDs, earn college credits, and acquire transitional skills; and WHEREAS, Unwavering in his commitment to his students, Stacey Proctor helps them realize their potential and prepare for the challenges and opportunities of the future, and he exemplifies the skill, dedication, and enthusiasm that are the hallmarks of our best teachers; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Stacey Proctor on being named the 2010-2011 Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District Secondary Education Teacher of the Year and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Proctor as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
