H.R. No. 2698 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Brittney Rodriguez, a participant in the Frank Madla, Jr., and Irma Rangel Legislative Internship Program of St. Mary's University, has rendered outstanding service in the office of State Representative Eddie Rodriguez during the 82nd Legislative Session; and WHEREAS, A senior at St. Mary's University with plans to pursue a master's degree at The University of Texas, Ms. Rodriguez distinguished herself as an intelligent, enthusiastic, and exceedingly polite young woman, who managed to insert a certain honorific at least once into every sentence, sir; she assisted Representative Rodriguez with his responsibilities as a member of the House Calendars and Criminal Jurisprudence Committees, and she helped him prepare for a CNN interview on the issue of allowing guns on college campuses; and WHEREAS, Ms. Rodriguez also helped her boss snatch victory from the jaws of sartorial defeat by sewing a button on his vest before an appearance on the floor of the house, and she regularly brightened the office with jokes, laughter, and visits by her dog, Emerson, whom, oddly enough, she never called "sir"; moreover, she proved particularly helpful in helping the representative repeatedly revive a bill to protect the pensions of Austin firefighters, especially the dreamy ones; and WHEREAS, In conclusion, Ms. Rodriguez skillfully handled a variety of duties in the office of Representative Rodriguez and ably assisted in meeting the needs of constituents, and she may indeed reflect proudly on her service; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby commend Brittney Rodriguez for her outstanding work as an intern for State Representative Eddie Rodriguez and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Rodriguez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
