H.R. No. 2701 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Throughout history, the family has served to protect, nurture, and strengthen its members, preparing them to thrive in the greater world, and on July 1 through July 3, 2011, members of the Harrison-Fields family are gathering to recognize the importance of this enduring institution in their own lives; and WHEREAS, The Harrison-Fields family reunions have been a regular event for more than 15 years, with the number of attendees ranging from 75 to as many as 150; the event is being held for the first time in Texas in 2011, and family members from California, Wisconsin, Alabama, Minnesota, Louisiana, Hawaii, Tennessee, Illinois, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Georgia are expected to attend; and WHEREAS, This year's reunion features the theme, "The Wisdom of Learning from the Past to Build for the Future," and activities will include city tours, shopping trips, a picnic, a family worship service, and a fish fry; the host, John D. Harrison, Jr., has lived with his family in North Texas since 1969 and is retired from the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and from a career as a Realtor and mortgage broker; he is a life member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity and a life alumnus of Alcorn State University in Mississippi; and WHEREAS, The Harrison-Fields reunion offers those in attendance an opportunity to reflect on their rich legacy and to strengthen the bonds that have united their extended families for generations; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby commemorate the 2011 Harrison-Fields family reunion and extend to its organizers and participants sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and memorable event; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Harrison-Fields family as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
