H.R. No. 2705 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, After seven years of exceptional service, Lawrence Bush of Houston is stepping down as chair of Senatorial District No. 7 of the Harris County Republican Party; and WHEREAS, Larry Bush was first elected district chair in 2003, and during his tenure he has helped recruit candidates for every level of office and has assisted with numerous elections; he also contributed to the HCRP as chair of Precinct 641, and he is the former chair of Precinct 480; and WHEREAS, An active supporter of the Republican Party since 1971, when he worked on Jack Kemp's successful congressional campaign, Mr. Bush has worked tirelessly to secure the success of the party and to promote conservative principles; he was the sergeant at arms chair for both the 2000 and 2008 Republican Party of Texas state conventions and has volunteered his time and expertise to provide security for HCRP events and for political candidates running for federal, state, and local offices; and WHEREAS, Born in Buffalo, New York, Mr. Bush moved to Houston in 1976; he began his 34-year career in law enforcement when he joined the Harris County Sheriff's Office in 1977; over the years, he worked for several other law enforcement agencies before returning in 1990 to the sheriff's office, where he remained until his retirement in May 2011 as a sergeant with the Burglary and Theft Division in the Criminal Investigation Bureau; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Bush enjoys the love and support of his wife, Veronica, and their four children; he and Mrs. Bush are planning to spend their retirement years in Port St. Joe, Florida; and WHEREAS, Larry Bush has distinguished himself through his hard work and commitment in behalf of the Harris County Republican Party, and he may reflect proudly on his many notable achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Lawrence Bush on his retirement as chair of Senatorial District No. 7 of the Harris County Republican Party and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Bush as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
