H.R. No. 2759
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The volunteers of Take Me Home Pet Rescue work
tirelessly to save the lives of homeless dogs and cats in the
Richardson area, and this notable group is deserving of special
recognition for its worthy efforts; and
WHEREAS, Founded in April 2008, Take Me Home Pet Rescue is a
nonprofit organization dedicated to removing stray dogs and cats
from the streets and from the euthanasia lists of local animal
shelters; during its three years in existence, the group's
volunteers have saved the lives of more than 600 animals; in
addition to rescuing abandoned dogs and cats, these compassionate
volunteers foster the animals until they can be matched with a
permanent home; they ensure that the strays are properly socialized
and cared for, and that they are spayed, neutered, vaccinated, and
microchipped prior to adoption; and
WHEREAS, Take Me Home Pet Rescue is funded entirely by the
generous donations of individuals and local businesses and through
the proceeds of many fund-raisers; the organization is currently
planning to open its own office, which will be used for a number of
purposes, among them adoption, clinic, and dog training services;
and
WHEREAS, Each year, countless healthy, well-behaved dogs and
cats die in shelters or on the streets; Take Me Home Pet Rescue is
doing its part to help end this sad pattern by saving such animals
and placing them in the loving, permanent homes that they deserve;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby commend Take Me Home Pet Rescue for its
outstanding work in behalf of homeless animals and extend to its
volunteers sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
