R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Rodney and Tonya Dean of Terrell celebrated their
20th wedding anniversary on April 19, 2011, and this joyous
occasion provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on their
memorable journey together as husband and wife; and
WHEREAS, Rodney Dean and the former Tonya Richardson were
married in a simple ceremony in 1991 in the home of Ms. Richardson's
parents, the Reverend James and Ida Pearl Richardson, with only six
people present; this year, they have renewed their vows before
family and friends in the church they founded and serve as
co-pastors, Freedom to Worship Gospel Church in Terrell; and
WHEREAS, In the years between the two ceremonies, Mr. and
Mrs. Dean have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made
even richer with the addition of their two daughters, Tonisha and
Jasmine, with whom they share the many special occasions of life;
and
WHEREAS, In addition to their duties as pastors, the couple
are active in their community; Mr. Dean is a supervisor at the
Walmart Distribution Center and serves as a member of the Terrell
Minister's Union and as a volunteer at Terrell High School; a
psychology graduate of Texas A&M University at Commerce, Mrs. Dean
is director of financial aid at Southwestern Christian College and
a member of the boards of the Kaufman County Children's Shelter and
the Genesis Center for Battered Women and Children; and
WHEREAS, For two decades, Rodney and Tonya Dean have brought
to their marriage devotion, kindness, and a deep religious faith,
and it is a pleasure to honor them for their enduring commitment;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Rodney and Tonya Dean on their 20th
wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Dean as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
