H.R. No. 2790 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Beatrice Cerda-Gonzalez has been named the 2010-2011 La Joya Independent School District Secondary Education Teacher of the Year; and WHEREAS, Finishing her fourth year with the district, Ms. Cerda-Gonzalez teaches eighth-grade United States history at J. D. Salinas Middle School; her previous honors have included recognition as the school's Teacher of the Month in September 2010; and WHEREAS, A 2003 graduate of La Joya ISD, she earned her associate's degree at South Texas College and her bachelor's degree at The University of Texas-Pan American; in addition to her teaching duties, Ms. Cerda-Gonzalez has contributed to the school in her work as a team leader, junior varsity softball coach, and cheerleading sponsor; and WHEREAS, Serving as role models, motivators, listeners, and mentors, our best teachers bring to the classroom creativity, energy, and resourcefulness, and Beatrice Cerda-Gonzalez has helped inspire in her students a love of learning that will serve them well throughout their lives; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Beatrice Cerda-Gonzalez on being named the La Joya Independent School District Secondary Education Teacher of the Year and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Cerda-Gonzalez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
