H.R. No. 2794 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Members of the Black American Comptroller Employees Association are gathering in Austin from June 13 to 19, 2011, for their 30th Anniversary and Scholarship Alumni Celebration Week; and WHEREAS, Founded in 1981, BACE unites current and former employees of the Texas Comptroller's Office to promote awareness of African American culture and heritage by engaging in charitable, benevolent, patriotic, employment-related, and other activities; the organization has also benefited numerous young people through its educational projects, economic development events, and community support, and this year's Juneteenth luncheon will include the recognition of all previous scholarship recipients; and WHEREAS, BACE sponsors informational and educational seminars throughout the year for agency employees and has established a formal Adopt-a-School mentoring program with Sims Elementary School in the Austin Independent School District; and WHEREAS, The Black American Comptroller Employees Association provides commendable support for Texas youth through its projects and scholarships, and it indeed merits special recognition on the occasion of this noteworthy milestone; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby honor the Black American Comptroller Employees Association on the occasion of its 30th Anniversary and Scholarship Alumni Celebration Week and extend to its members sincere best wishes for a memorable and meaningful event; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the association as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
