H.R. No. 2799 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, For more than 35 years, Richard Ford has dedicated himself to promoting conservative values in government through his organizations, the Free Market Foundation and the Heritage Alliance; and WHEREAS, A native of El Paso, Mr. Ford attended The University of Texas at Austin; after graduating, he moved to Dallas, where he built successful careers in both real estate and insurance; he and his wife Julie were married in 1967, and together they have been blessed with two daughters and six grandchildren; and WHEREAS, In the 1970s, Mr. Ford organized the Free Market Foundation, which worked to educate Christians about their right to be self-governing; he transferred the leadership of the foundation to Kelly Shackelford in 1997, and in the years since, he has focused on political advocacy and campaign efforts through his new organizations, the Heritage Alliance and the Heritage Alliance PAC; and WHEREAS, The civic life of Texas benefits greatly from the energy and commitment of engaged citizens, and Richard Ford has proven himself to be a champion of the conservative principles of free enterprise, limited government, and limited taxation; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby recognize Richard Ford for his work with the Heritage Alliance and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Ford as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
