H.R. No. 2806 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Those Texans who give freely of their time and talents to benefit the larger community make the world a better place through their actions and their example, and Donald Theodore Boumans has long played such a role in Jefferson County; and WHEREAS, A veteran of World War II, Don Boumans served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was awarded the Purple Heart; he was employed by Goodrich-Gulf Chemicals, Inc., for 38 years before his retirement and served as plant manager; benefiting his profession, he founded the Plant Managers Association for the Golden Triangle Industrial Area of Southeast Texas, and he is a member of the Southeast Texas Plant Managers Association and the Association of Chemical Industry of Texas; and WHEREAS, Mr. Boumans served on the boards of Mid-Jefferson Hospital and Hughen School, and he was chair of the Salvation Army advisory board; in addition, he served Junior Achievement as both president and chair, and the Don Boumans Leadership Award is a tribute to his vital endeavors in behalf of that organization; he has also served as executive director of the Golden Triangle Business Round Table, as president of the Port Neches-Groves Rotary Club and the Port Neches Chamber of Commerce, and as chair of both the local chapter and Region VI of the Texas Association of Business; moreover, he has made generous donations to numerous charitable organizations through the years, and the Jefferson County Commissioners Court recognized his myriad accomplishments on the occasion of his 85th birthday on March 3, 2010; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, this esteemed civic leader enjoys the love and support of his wife, Syble, his children, Arthur and Nancy, and his grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew, Donald, and Hunter, as well as the admiration and affection of a host of devoted friends; and WHEREAS, Don Boumans has made a lasting, positive impact on Jefferson County, and he continues to inspire innumerable people through his exceptional contributions and steadfast commitment to his community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby honor Donald Theodore Boumans for his long record of outstanding service to the people of Jefferson County; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Boumans as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
