H.R. No. 407
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Arlington police officer Craig Gordon Story was
killed in the line of duty on January 13, 2010, at the age of 34, and
his untimely death was a tragic loss to his family, to his fellow
peace officers, and to the residents of his community; and
WHEREAS, Craig Story was born on December 11, 1975, in
Wichita Falls; he earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice
at Midwestern State University, and in May 2002 he graduated from
Class 24 of the Arlington Police Academy; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of a notable tenure dedicated to the
welfare and safety of his fellow citizens, he earned 19
commendations and was nominated as the East district officer of the
year; a member of the tactical unit for five years, he had recently
completed his training as a motorcycle officer in the traffic unit;
and
WHEREAS, Officer Story was a loving husband to Danielle for
15 years and a devoted father to his son, Barrett, whom he often
called "one of the most handsome boys ever to be born"; in his free
time, he enjoyed weight lifting, wrestling, and jujitsu, in which
he had earned a black belt; he was also interested in languages, and
he spoke Spanish and was working on learning Vietnamese; and
WHEREAS, Known for his bright smile and positive attitude,
this courageous Texan exemplified the highest standards of his
profession, and he will long be remembered for his profound
dedication to public service and his tireless efforts in behalf of
his fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Arlington police
officer Craig Gordon Story and extend sincere sympathy to his wife,
Danielle; to his son, Barrett; to his mother, Shirley; to his
father, Danny, and his wife, Edwayna; to his sister, Michelle; and
to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Arlington
police officer Craig Story.
