                            H.R. No. 50

 R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Our esteemed colleague, State Representative
Beverly Woolley, and her husband, Lynn Woolley, celebrated the
memorable occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary on September
 24, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Beverly Massey and Lynn Woolley, both native
Houstonians, were united in matrimony at Mount Carmel Catholic
Church in the Bayou City in 1960; through the years they have
nurtured a fulfilling marriage, and today they take justifiable
pride in their fine family, which includes a daughter, Cheryl
Jackson, two sons, James and David Woolley, and six grandchildren,
Abby and Morgan Jackson and Jamie, Jalynn, Anna, and Samuel
 Woolley; and
WHEREAS, Representative and Mr. Woolley have long been
respected members of the Houston community; they are the former
owners of a family business, Houston Armature Works, which
celebrated its centennial in 2007; before joining the Texas
Legislature in 1995, Representative Woolley served on the Nassau
Bay City Council; in addition to her work in local and state
government, her myriad contributions to her fellow Texans include
service on the boards of the Court Appointed Special Advocates, the
Mental Health Association, and the Foundation for Financial
Literacy; she has also coached youth sports and served as a Cub
 Scout leader; and
WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is a celebration of
love that has stood the test of time; in the case of Beverly and Lynn
Woolley, this test has included the challenge of reconciling worlds
that are to a certain extent quite different; Mr. Woolley, for
instance, has demonstrated a strong affinity for any mode of
open-air transport that involves risk taking, from bicycles to
motorcyles to off-road vehicles; apart from the potential these
conveyances pose for bodily harm, none of them leaps to mind as an
especially suitable match for a legislator whose name has become a
byword for impeccable grooming and sartorial flair; and
WHEREAS, This pair, however, have found the key to making it
work; Beverly and Lynn Woolley have now shared a richly rewarding
five decades together, and the future looks certain to be infused
with the same love, wisdom, and good humor that have brought them to
this joyous milestone; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate State Representative Beverly
Woolley and Lynn Woolley on their golden wedding anniversary and
extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be
 it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Representative and Mr. Woolley as an expression of
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
